THE DEEPEST MEANING OF SACRAMENTS
THE WORD, SACRAMENT, APPEARS IN THE HOLY BIBLE IN ONLY ONE LOCATION: EPHESIANS 5: 31-32.
"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh. This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the church."
(NOTE: If your Bible has the word "mystery" in place of the word "sacrament" here, then you have a verbally engineered, falsified, unholy and altered translation of the Holy Bible!) Everyone can benefit by a deeper understanding of The Seven Sacraments. This explanation has proven to be very helpful to many people throughout Salvation History. We trust that it will be a blessing to you also! If one pays attention closely enough, he will notice that God sends us the people and the things that we need - WHEN WE NEED THEM - all throughout Salvation History!!! WE NEED ALL SEVEN SACRAMENTS, AND WE NEED A LOT MORE PRAYER ACTIVITY!!! The Baltimore Catechism gives this definition of a sacrament: A sacrament is (1) an outward sign, (2) instituted by Christ, (3) to give grace. This is a very good and useful definition that contains much meaning --- but let us delve more deeply into the concept of a sacrament. The word, SACRAMENT, comes from the Latin word, SACRAMENTUM, which means a sacred (holy) and mysterious oath. For the worldly Romans in the time of Jesus, the oath of loyalty taken by Roman soldiers was called a Sacramentum. A Roman soldier considered his service to be a "sacred and honorable duty". Then as now, soldiers swore an oath to protect the Roman Emperor and the Roman Empire. An oath (Sacramentum) was very serious business back then, and a Sacramentum (sacred holy oath) is also very serious business today, but the swearing of sacred oaths (sacramentums) is not properly understood by most Americans today. We take oaths because we need God's help to live the oath that we swear! That is why we usually end an oath with, "So help me God!" THE WORD, SACRAMENT MEANS SACRED OATH AND SACRED COVENANT Read St. Mathew 5: 33-37 "Again you have heard that it was said to them of old, Thou shalt not forswear thyself: but thou shalt perform thy oaths to the Lord (see Ex. 20: 7 and Lev. 19: 12 and Deut. 5: 11 and James 5: 12). But I say to you not to swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God: Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool: nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king: Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil". Jesus takes oath swearing very seriously, In the Old Testament, and in the New Testament! To the ancient Hebrews, to swear an oath meant TO MAKE A COVENANT FAMILY BOND!
This idea of Covenant is scripturally based primarily on chapter 1 and 2 of Genesis, especially in the resting on the 7th day (Genesis 2: 2-3) where God "SANCTIFIED" the seventh day BY BLESSING IT. Seven is the number of the Covenant!!! If you want to be beastlike (beasts and man were both made on the sixth day) then just refuse to "keep holy the sabbath day." (Ex. 20: 8-11 and Deut. 5: 12-15). You will soon be acting like a beast of burden! When God blessed creation three times (Gen. 1: 22 and Gen. 1: 28 and Gen. 2: 3) the ancient Hebrews understood, that in blessing creation, God was making a covenant with His creation to keep it in existence. God just created it, and if He wanted to wipe His creation out of existence, He could do so. God shows us that He chooses to sustain His creation in existence by the threefold blessings. If God enters into and keeps covenant with us, then we should enter into and keep covenant with Him. Christians of today should keep the Covenants that they make. Christians should imitate Christ!!! A COVENANT IS AN EXCHANGE OF PERSONS (and/or TO SEVEN ONESELF). A CONTRACT IS AN EXCHANGE OF GOODS. Do you see the difference? "IT IS CONSUMMATED." (St. John: 19: 30)
Jesus "consummated" His work of redemption through His agonizing death on the cross! He gave us the Seven Sacraments and THE HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS!
LET US LOOK AT SOME EXAMPLES OF "THE COVENANT" IN THESE HOLY SACRAMENTS: EXAMPLES In the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony the wife makes a marriage vow (MARRIAGE COVENANT) and gives herself completely to her husband -- and the husband make a marriage vow (MARRIAGE COVENANT) and gives himself completely to his wife -- until death do they part! They give one another to each other in a mutual act of self donation and exchange of persons - that they swear will last a lifetime - and this Sacred Covenant is made in front of many witnesses!!!
THEY EXCHANGE PERSONS, and the wife gets all of his in-laws, and the husband gets all of her in-laws - forever!!! Please approach Holy Matrimony with extreme reverence, piety and awe! Holy Matrimony IS FOR CHRIST! And holy preparation is necessary for Holy Matrimony. The husband and wife must help one another to get to heaven. For HOLY PREPARATION read Tobias 6: 16 - 22 in the English Translation of the Latin Vulgate.
Archangel Raphael with the young Tobias on the journeyto Gabelus in Rages (Tobias 6: 1-9) These are the instructions from Archangel Raphael about entering Holy Matrimony WITH HOLINESS. He says, "...and for three days keep thyself continent from her, and give thyself to nothing else but to prayers with her." This means 3 days of prayer and fasting. Since the main purpose of everyone's life on earth is, "To get to heaven", all other purposes of Holy Matrimony are secondary!
The chief purposes of Holy Matrimony are: THE SANCTIFICATION OF THE HUSBAND AND WIFE, and the PROCREATION AND EDUCATION OF CHILDREN!
THIS IS WISDOM! (PRAY FOR WISDOM!) ******* In the Sacrament of Holy Communion we receive the body, blood, soul and divinity of Our Lord, Jesus Christ (the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity) on our tongues, and down our throats and into our tummies. Can you have any greater exchange of persons than that???
Jesus gives Himself to us - SACRAMENTALLY - in every worthily received Holy Communion!!! Jesus exchanges persons and lives within us, through the Holy Sacrament (Sacred Covenant) of Holy Communion!
"Give us this day our daily bread." (St. Luke 11: 3) is fulfilled in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass!!! Note: In the original Latin Vulgate Bible, (Douay Rheims English Translation) the Our Father Prayer reads this way: "Give us this day our supersubstantial bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen." (See St. Mathew 6: 9-13) THE LAST VISION OF FATIMA
THIS PICTURE DISPLAYS THE TRUE THEOLOGY OF THE HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS!
DO YOUR SUNDAY MORNING SERVICES HAVE THIS THEOLOGY? ******* In The Sacrament of Baptism, the exorcism oath formula used in all valid Christian Baptisms is: "I baptize thee in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." (St. Mathew 28: 19) By the proper use of the water (the matter), and the proper sacramental oath words (the form), and the proper intentions (the intent) of the one performing and/or being baptized , another person becomes an adopted child (son or daughter) of God. Holy Baptism is the entrance rite (Sacred Family Covenant Bond) into Christianity! Thank your parents FOR YOUR HOLY BAPTISM as an infant!!! Due to the consequences of the sin of Adam and Eve (ORIGINAL SIN) every person born into this world today is born under the power of sin. Every person is created "in the image and likeness...of God" (Gen. 1: 26-27) but everyone inherits the consequences of original sin. We are all born in the state of original sin. You get out of Satan's sinful family and into God's Holy Family through the Holy Sacrament of Baptism! Thanks be to God for His never ending mercy!!! ******* In The Sacrament of Penance, a person, who has had the misfortune of committing a mortal sin (1 St. John 5: 16-17) and, consequently, has fallen back into the family of Satan, can exchange families and return to the Family of God! Mortal sin kills the life of grace in one's soul and makes one an enemy of God! A GOOD CONFESSION REQUIRES: 1. True sorrow for one's sins, 2. A firm purpose of amendment, 3. The confession of all known sins to the priest, 4. Proper absolution by the priest, 5. Performance of the penance given, 6. Restitution of any harm done, if possible, and 7. Avoiding the near occasions of sin!
Through the Holy Sacrament of Confession, one can regain a life of sanctifying grace! A good Sacramental Confession bestows tremendous grace and restores a mortal sinner to the Family of God! This Sacramental Theology can be applied to each of The Seven Sacraments!
A WORLD AT PRAYER IS A WORLD AT PEACE!!! "BE YE THEREFORE MERCIFUL, AS YOUR FATHER ALSO IS MERCIFUL" (St. Luke 6: 36)
Join together with the Family of God in church, and pray for the decision makers in our churches and in our government! JESUS, THE DIVINE PHYSICIAN> CAN HEAL ANYONE! WHEN WE PRAY, GOD WORKS!!! |
